The main types of sex are vaginal sex, oral sex, anal sex, and masturbation. Everything else are variations of these.

You can do oral sex on the penis, on the vagina or clitoris, and on the anus. It can even be done by both partners at the same time ("69 position").

Masturbation and frottage (sexual rubbing or "grinding") can be done in many ways, and solo or with at least one partner. Lesbian woman can practice a type of frottage known as tribadism (rubbing clitorises together), and there is a subset of that called "scissoring" or "scissor sex." That is when they interlace their legs with their heads at opposite ends so that their crotches are 90 degrees turned from each other's and meshed together.
