1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located at the edges of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails the ECU will display a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. The code won't show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. Look for audi keyless entry signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at maximum speed, i noticed a huge reduction in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, three were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I get zero Ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor.
